National Donate Life Month

Celebrated in April each year, National Donate Life Month features an entire month of activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors. It also celebrates those who have saved or impacted the lives of others through their gift of donation.

An outgrowth of this celebratory month is the Flags Across America program that started in 2009. It honors and celebrates the hundreds of thousands of donors and recipients whose lives have been affected by organ, eye and tissue donation. The program invites all donor hospitals and transplant centers to collectively fly the Donate Life flag during the month of April. Many of these hospitals fly the Donate Life flag any time a donation occurs at their facility, this demonstrates a unified and visible statement about the dire need of donation and for people to register.

Annual National Blue & Green Day

During this day in April, the public is encouraged to wear blue and green, hold events and fundraisers and partner with local restaurants, malls, media and community organizations in an effort to spread awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation.
